A Little More About Me
My Qualifications and Yoga Journey
I consider myself to be very lucky that I had the opportunity to train for my Yoga Teacher qualification with a Yoga Teacher whose classes I had attended for years. When I asked Sharon about training to become a Yoga Teacher she pointed me to the Real Yoga school in Ledbury - and a course that she would be tutoring herself.
The course was a 500 hour Real Yoga Diploma in Yoga Teaching which is accredited with the Independent Yoga Network (IYN). Being a 500 hour course, rather than the standard 200-hour courses, I was taught about so much more than just the yoga poses. The course included an in depth study of -
Yoga poses
Pranayama practices
Relaxation
Meditation
Anatomy and Physiology
The Chakras
And the study of ancient yoga texts.

I have also completed a Children Do Yoga Teacher Training course with Jess Wingate. This course is recognised with The Complementary Medical Association (CMA) and it provided me with great ideas for structuring fun and engaging yoga classes for kids of all ages.

I have also completed an online Mindfulness for Children Diploma. This course has enabled me to bring in some Mindfulness activities to my children's classes to help children with the increasing stresses of day-to-day life and to promote happiness and develop positive life habits.

The one thing I have learned about Yoga is that I'm always learning. I may have done a pose a hundred times but then I make one small adjustment that has been suggested in an article that I have read and the whole pose changes for me. For me, this is what makes Yoga so interesting and exciting. Yoga can be exactly what you need it to be on that day. Do you need energising? Do you need grounding? Do you need to relieve yourself of aches and pains? Do you need to create some headspace? Do you need some time for yourself? Whatever you need, put on some stretchy clothes, find a mat and see where Yoga takes you.
Best Wishes
